Today, we took a shuttle to Aix-en-Provence which is about 20 miles north of Marseille. Aix (as it's called), has a population of about 150,000 so it's not a small city. It's trendy, clean, friendly, and still has that old town France charm.
Aix was founded in 123 BC by the Romans and spent the next few decades being plundered and conquered by different armies. Finally, around 737 AD, Aix became the capital of Provence, and then in the 12th century, Aix became a sophisticated city known for art and learning. Aix has an average of 300 days a year of full sun.
We had a pretty chill day here, walking around, shops, lunch, tourist train ride.
These berries look SOOOO good!
We arrived fairly early, but within 30 minutes, all the stores opened and the streets were crowded
This lady was painting the street market
So many kinds of soaps!
Harry Potter store
As we did in Olbia, Jacob found the top rated gelato and again, it did not disappoint
We did get some of these berries and cherries, and yes, they were so good!
Shelley told me to stand next to this motorcycle so she could take a pic. So, I posed. She took a while before she took a pic and asked what I was looking at? I said, "nothing. You told me to pose, so I was doing my best tik-tok pose."
Time to leave!
As we were leaving, the sea gulls followed us for quite a while. They were hungry. They were starving!! Don felt sorry for them and fed them some fries:
Not to be outdone, Jacob felt sorry for the gulls too:
This ship had so many different areas with live music and singing. This one was in the middle - a piano with a see-through floor over water
VIDEO:
No trip with Jacob would be complete without him doing handstands
