Happy Bday Hannah!

Feb 2 was Hannah’s 10th bday!

She had a “Baking Party” that Shelley and Marissa organized and put on.

Here is the cake Shelley made:

All the party guest’s got a hat and apron and they first dipped strawberries in chocolate, then made some strawberry jam, and then a puff pastry and then a pastry-fruity-thingie.  They each got to take home their handiwork.

Later that week, we went to Cheesecake Factory for dessert and they made Hannah a special plate!

Happy Bday Hannah!  We love you!!

Here Fishy, Fishy

We visited the Fish Hatchery where salmon come home after making their way from here when small, going all the way to the ocean and then returning home to spawn.

We fed the fish in the holding tanks, where they spend a few months until they are big enough to head out downstream on their own.

The “fish ladder” wasn’t open to the fish the day we visited, so we weren’t able to watch the fish swim up.

One Last Time

We wouldn’t close out the year without going to Six Flags one more time!  We went between Christmas and New Year’s. Picked a good day. No crowds.

Marissa brought a friend and they wanted to go on the kiddie rides.  Jake (her friend) was scared, but he still managed to put his hands up!

BYU

Just after New Year’s, we took Meghan back to BYU and dropped her off (with a lot of tears).  She was fortunate to get into the new Heritage Halls, where the old Deseret Towers used to be.  She was in the first group of students to live here! They weren’t even all the way done working on them when she moved in.

Here is the view from her room onto the courtyard:

Her living room, kitchen and bedroom:

She’s having a great time there and we miss her!  We get to video chat her every week though, and that makes her feel much closer!

Here was our view going back home:

We love and miss you Meghan!

Playing Catch Up

So Hannah asked me the other day why I haven’t posted to the blog lately.  I really didn’t have an excuse, so now I have to play Catch Up with the stuff I’ve missed.

So the next several will highlights some of the things that happened in the past few months.

First off, we have the ever favorite ‘MISC’ collection.  Just ones and twosies photos of things that don’t really have their own photo collection.

We went to the Police Department’s Open House where we toured the Police Department, including some of the holding cells, gun firing range (which is the basement), the car pool of all the cars and motorcycles, and they even provided a yummy bbq!  Jacob and Hannah liked getting on the motorcycles.

I got this very small shish-keeee-bob thingy in the mail, and look at the huge box and all the paper they used to ship this!

We let a mylar balloon go on New Year’s Eve with a note attached to email us when someone finds it so we can see how far it went. We never got an email.  The thought is that the balloon went to high, the paper froze and burned up upon re-entry.

We went into Nordstrom’s to see what it was like, and I found this nice looking shirt.  It was even a good price!  Shelley still wouldn’t let me buy it.

Whenever we go to Home Goods, we see what weird things we can find, and we have never been let down.  Unfortunately, we never took pics of the weird things – but we are going to start now!  Here are the latest weird things:

“Turf Wars” a show on DIY where two neighbors compete to redo their entire backyards in 2 days is shooting an episode at the neighbor’s houses.  They get complete back yards often including whole built in grills, patios, and fountains.  Then their friends and crew who helped work on it, vote, and the winning yards gets an additional $10,000.
