Time for a hike! We tried to go to Scout Falls early in the morning before it got too busy, but found out that you have to reserve parking on weekends before noon. You can't just show up hoping to buy a ticket there, they will send you back....and it was sold out.
So we decided instead, to go late afternoon and got up there around 6:30pm. The parking lot was empty, and it was 25 degrees cooler than the 100 degrees in the valley!
It was beautiful. Fairly easy 3 mile round trip hike, but it's a steady climb all the way up, with just over 1000 foot elevation change. The trail is pretty rocky with big rocks and roots all over the place, so if you're in a boot or wheelchair, this isn't the hike for you.
So many different shades of green
Evidence of an avalanche with all the trees pushed down
Don't miss this sign otherwise you'll end up at Timp summit in 6 miles
There's about 6-7 water areas to cross, most are easy like this one
You might get your shoes a little wet at this part
The hardest part of the entire trail is getting over and around this huge tree root. Lots of people had dogs and didn't know about this part and had to carry their dogs!
It's been a dry 2 months and 100 degrees for a few weeks, so the water wasn't flowing very much
At the first falls, you have to walk behind the water to get to the next falls

The 2nd falls were a little more robust, but nothing like it is in the Spring
This short part is a little sketchy, nothing to hold on to and a little slippery
As we headed back, it was the "golden hour" so parts of the mountains and valley were in the shade and others sun as the sun set
It was a good hike! We loved it and forgotten how beautiful it was. It's been years since we have done this hike.
