Huntsville

Corey's parents were out of town for the week, and Corey needed to go check on the animals (horses, chickens, cats, dogs, snakes, goats, and I think maybe some spitting llamas??  Corey's parents suggested we all have a slumber party while they were gone, so we met Corey and Meghan up there, Matt and Marissa came too.

We drove around Huntsville, which is through Ogden canyon.  We drove past an Abbey there is there, Meghan found a geocache, and we went to Pineview reservoir...Played games, had a yummy breakfast....  and had a great time spending time together as a family!

Camp Floyd

On Labor Day, Camp Floyd in Fairfield had "Camp Floyd Days" - basically a living history day.

Camp Floyd was a US Army Outpost and a Pony Express stop in the mid 1860.  At the time, it was the largest concentration of army troop concentration in the United States.   US President James Buchanan sent the troops there to stop a perceived Mormon rebellion and had a small war that lasted for a year called Buchanan's War.

In the end, the government determined there was no rebellion and no reason to fight anymore.

Anyhow, Camp Floyd is only 10 minutes from our house, and although the sky's were promising thunder and lightning and wind, we thought let's go see..it's just down the road.

We were the only ones there :-(  except for the volunteers and docents.  We felt bad nobody else was there.

He's having the time of his life!

Canyon Hike

Found a short little hike to go to, as it was going to be hot this August Saturday.....  small waterfall at the end as a little reward.

Meghan's Graduated!

We had planned earlier in the year to make the trek back to Utah for Meghan's graduation in August from the Marriott School of Management.  Now we didn't have to!  We were already here!!

What a great accomplishment for Meghan and we were so glad to be here for it!  We love you Meghan and are so proud of you!
