Doggy Sleepover

I’m still getting our vacation post ready, there are a lot of photos to organize and go through, so I thought I’d post this short little post as intermission between our two vacation blog posts.

I have a new goal. I want to be able to order anything I want from the catalog we get from ‘FrontGate’ – it’s very nice (and expensive stuff) and not worry about how much it costs.

What to do when it’s raining at Six Flags?

So what do you do when it’s raining at Six Flags?  You ride the rides of course!

We were on our way to down LA for our vacation (to be covered in the next blog) and of course just HAD to stop at Six Flags as it was on the way. When we left home 6 hours earlier, the chance of rain was at 30%. Six hours later, it was up to 70%. Oh well.

Once you get past Sacramento on I-5, it’s nothing but agriculture the entire way until you get to LA.  It is said that this 450 mile long valley produces 25% of all food grown in America, and that EVERY ‘non tropical’ crop is grown here.  This time of year, the fields are green and beautiful!

Finally, we have arrived!

When we got there, it was only partly cloudy and the 30% was looking good! We even left all our rain gear in the car it looked so good!

This ride, X2, is still the freakiest ride I’ve ever ridden.  It’s the only ride I still yell out for my mama when I ride it. Here is the loading station, and this train is just heading out. When you ride it, at first you are going backwards due to the way you are seated.  The worst part was, that I had the camera in one pocket and my phone in the other. I had to keep my hands on my pockets so the camera and phone wouldn’t fall out, so I couldn’t hold onto the seat, so it made it just a little more freakier for me!  MOMMIE!

Here is a train going up the lift hill. Once you get to the top however, all kinds of stuff happens. Suddenly, the seats all rotate with each row rotating independently of each other row. The first hill, is straight down, and conveniently, the seats rotate so you are facing straight down at the ground, and you can’t see the track or the people in front/behind you.  Then through some loops, weird turns, past some huge fire flames, all the while with your seat turning all over the place. Extremely disorienting, and very very fun!  It went by so fast, we had to do it again, since there was no line. (In the summer, the line for this ride is upwards of 1 to 1 1/2 hours. We waited 5 minutes.

Soon, that 30% changed quickly to 70% and it started to rain. We ran (ok, I and Meghan) ran back to the car to get our rain stuff. Then it was off to Goliath – VERY tall and VERY VERY fast.  Loved it!  Loved the 1 minute line for a 3 minute ride! Goliath’s first hill is 25 stories tall and reaches speeds of 85 mph down the first hill at  a near vertical angle. The rain only hurt a little as it pelted our faces at that speed!

Here is a pic of how crowded it was:  Really it was like this!  Six Flags didn’t make any money that day, still having to pay all their employees! They did sell a lot of hot chocolate though!

Many of the rides we just stayed on because there was no line!  The rain started, stopped, started, stopped…the rides kept going! 

After we had made our way around the park and rode most things once, the rain started pouring and it got dark like it wasn’t going to stop. We decided it was time to head out. Not before one more ride though! Just a little tamer ride to finish up:

We figured we got in just as much in 4 hours than we would have in 8-9 on a ‘regular’ good weather day.  We had a great time!

 

Museum Day

It’s February, that means it’s time for Free Museum Day!  It was a nice and sunny day too!  Perfect weather! 

We decided to go to a couple of museums that had been to before, but not for many years, since we have been to almost all the museums on previous years. 

We went to the Aerospace Museum and to Sutter’s Fort this time.

The kids liked going into the planes and seeing how they were back in the ‘olden days’.

Yep, Grandpa Gwilliam can be seen in this pic! We dragged him along with us.

We then headed over to Sutter’s Fort right in the middle of Downtown Sac. 

We are glad we don’t have to live like this anymore!

Jacob wanted to fire the cannon, but there were too many people around.

We had a fun day and on the way home, the car drove itself to Leatherby’s where we just HAD to eat some ice cream – otherwise it would have melted.

Happy Birthday Hannah!

We celebrated Hannah’s 9th birthday!

She got some nice gifts, and she choose to go to Red Robin for Dinner so the whole family came, (and so we could eat tons of the endless yummy fries) PLUS we had Lynnette and her whole family come too!

Hannah doesn’t seem too excited here! I think she is full and ate too much. She is just waiting for the singing to stop so she can dig in!

I think I am going to start eating Hannah’s ice cream!
