SureWest (who provides phone and tv and internet service here in town) often has community events to thank you for being their customer. The most recent one was a free breakfast for everyone. Last summer we went to a BBQ from SureWest and Hannah won an iPod because they have drawings each hour. Since that time, the kids want to go to the SureWest parties now!
We were expecting to be eating breakfast out side in the park, with cold pancakes, cold syrup, and cold butter that tears your pancakes all apart when you try to spread it. Maybe we got that idea from going to church breakfasts or from camping. Because of that thinking, Meghan and Mama didn’t want to come, so Dad, Jake, Hannah and Marissa were off.
We were surprised when we got there to see it was indoors…..on tables….and that it was catered…….and they had HOT pancackes, HOT scrambled eggs, HOT bacon, and even HOT syrup!! And cold OJ. It was really good! And there were tons of food! Nothing ran out!
They also had Spin the Wheel for junk, er uh I mean prizes, (I think we came home with tons of inflatable beach balls, yo-yos, blow up swords, and chapstick), there was a magic show and of course face painting…oh yeah, and the drawings every 30 mins…but this time, no iPod prizes, only $50 every 30 mins.
Jacob and Marissa got to participate in the magic show:
The kids each got their face/arms painted as well.
The park was just right outside, so we spent some time there too.
Oh yeah, there was balloon animals/hats too.
All the “prizes” we came home with? The yo-yos were all tangled up by the next day, and were now the cat’s toy…..the beach balls were popped by the evening of the same day, (they were thin plastic), the inflatable swords MIGHT have made it home in the car, but didn’t make it past bed time, and I think the chapsticks got left in the car or fell between or under the seats in the car and has all since melted in the heat.
Good thing there’s another SureWest ‘party’ coming up in a few weeks – this time it’s dinner. We really NEED some more yo-yos.
Oh the $50 drawings? We didn’t win any! But we will make that up and win one at the dinner!

That face painting is pretty good. Way better than the little butterfly or heart I used to get!
Hey, where is the picture of Master Doug and his face painting? I couldn't find it.
It has been great to hear from you!! I added your blog to my sidebar also, so we can keep up with you! Doug asked if we had a caring bridge site. I had never even heard of them until you mentioned it. We checked it out. It's a neat thing they do. We miss your family, and hope things are going well for you! We sure hope you are feeling better and healing, Doug!! Hugs to all of you!
