Dad's Funeral

After what seemed like a long week, Friday May 3 was dad's funeral.  We had a good week though going through all of dad's journals, papers, photos and memories and even learning more about him.

The funeral was on a beautiful day and a wonderful service.  Lynnette planned most of it and we were so glad to have her here to get things organized.

Us kids all shared a few memories of what we learned from dad and we laughed and cried all together.

At the cemetery, dad had military honors where they played "Taps" and folded the flag and gave it to mom.  It was very stirring and emotional to watch.  Dad loved his country.

We then had a nice luncheon for all the family and we had a chance to visit.  Funny, how a funeral ends up being a family reunion - on both sides of life-- we had our reunion, and dad was having his too.

They made cards for everyone to take to remember to do small things to make your part of the world a little better
