Hike the Y

We see it every day.  We talk about hiking the Y all the time, just have never done it.

The Y itself is 380 feet high and 130 feet wide. It's larger than the letters in the Hollywood sign.

The trail though is steep, but short.  It's only 1.2 miles each way, but you go through a series of switchbacks and the elevation gain is just about 1000 feet - which is a lot in that short of a distance.  The trail is all in the sun, so going early/late in the day is important!

The payoff however, is the view, which is fantastic!

Finally!  A bench to rest on about half way up

Of course Jacob went exploring on the way up.  We found some geocaches as well.

Finally!  We can see it!

On top of the Y looking down. It's bumpy and not very white. But from down below, it looks white and smooth!

From the bottom looking up
